Guava, (Psidium guajava), small tropical tree or shrub of the family Myrtaceae, cultivatedfor its edible fruit. Guava trees are native to tropical America and are grown in tropical and subtropical areas worldwide. Guava fruits are processed into jams, jellies, and preserves and are common pastry fillings. Fresh guavas are rich in vitamins A, B and C; they are commonly eaten raw and may be sliced and served with sugar and cream as a dessert The common guava has quadrangular branchlets, oval to oblong leaves about 7.6 cm (3 inches) in length, and four-petaled white flowers about 2.5 cm (1 inch) broad.
